Adi-Shakti-Maa Durga

Maa Durga, also identified as Adi Parashakti, Devī, Shakti, Bhavani, Parvati, Amba, Yogmaya and by numerous other names, is a principal and popular form of Hindu Goddess.

She is the warrior goddess, whose mythology centers on combating evils and demonic forces that threaten peace, prosperity and dharma of the good. She is the fierce form of the protective mother goddess, willing to unleash her anger against wrong, violence for liberation and destruction to empower creation.

Durga is depicted in the Hindu pantheon as a Goddess riding a lion or tiger, with many arms each carrying a weapon, often defeating Mahishasura (demon). She appears in Indian texts as the wife of god Shiva, as another form of Parvati or mother goddess.

She is a central deity in Shaktism tradition of Hinduism, where she is equated with the concept of ultimate reality called Brahman.

One of the most important texts of Shaktism is Devi Mahatmya, also known as Durgā Saptashatī, which celebrates Durga as the Goddess, declaring her as the Supreme Being and the creator of the universe. Maa Durga is a deity worshipped across the globe in different forms. This symbolizes the uniformity in diversity. She is the source of universal strength. She is the form of energy and all types of movement are possible only because of her.

Her peaceful look on face pacifies her devotees towards her. Worshiped for removing evil and bad effects from one’s life, she bestows and fulfills the wishes of her devotees. She is very beautiful and delicate along with being powerful and strong. Maa Durga lives in every woman on earth, hence each woman (infant, girl, daughter, sister, wife, mother, friend etc.) all should be respected at all times; she empowers the universe with strength and spreads the message of fighting against the wrong.

Humankind needs to celebrate the goddess all year round, at each moment, now and always. Our development depends on the well-being on this section of human beings. Right from the start of human existence to modern era, it is evident that “Until you empower the woman in your life, you will not be successful”, stands true for all humans.
