Do Your Bit of Good! Kindness is the Sunshine in which virtue grows!

No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted. It is not our job to play judge and jury, to determine who is worthy of our kindness and who is not. We just need to be kind, unconditionally and without ulterior motive, even – or rather, especially – when we would prefer not to be. We are constituted so that simple acts of kindness, such as giving to charity or expressing gratitude, have a positive effect on our long-term moods. The key to the happy life, it seems, is the good life: a life with sustained relationships, challenging work, and connections to community.

Just imagine how different the world could be if we all spoke to everyone with respect and kindness. Constant kindness can accomplish much. As the sun makes ice melt, kindness causes misunderstanding, mistrust, and hostility to evaporate.

To practice five things under all circumstances constitutes perfect virtue; these five are gravity, generosity of soul, sincerity, earnestness, and kindness. Truth is a deep kindness that teaches us to be content in our everyday life and share with the people the same happiness.

You never know when a warm smile with a simple hello can brighten someone’s day and life. Do it anyways. A face is a mirror most people do not know to read, anyone can hurt, as it is an easy task but very few can heal people around them.  Kindness is best ornament one can flaunt all the time. It reflects the inner beauty of a human being, something that stays even when the soul departs from the body.

I’ve been humbled by the amount of people who have gone out of their way to reach out, mentor me on an ongoing basis, and devote time to help solve the problems. I thank the kindness shown to me.

Rags to riches isn’t a story anyone wants to hear until after it is done.

We are not rich by what we possess but by what we can do without. Anyone can acquire wealth; the real art is giving it away. No man ever achieved worthwhile success who did not, at one time or other; find himself with at least one foot hanging well over the brink of failure.

Any fact facing us is not as important as our attitude toward it, for that determines our success or failure. The way you think about a fact may defeat you before you ever do anything about it. Patience, persistence and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success.

“The last of human freedoms—the ability to choose one’s attitude in a given set of circumstances.” ~Viktor E. Frankl

The soul is stronger than its surroundings. Optimism is true moral courage. We build too many walls and not enough bridges. Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.It is during our darkest moments that we must focus to see the light.

If four things are followed – having a great aim, acquiring knowledge, hard work, and perseverance – then anything can be achieved. Success is not the absence of failure; it is the persistence through failure.

So gear up and live your lifetime with the strong version of you. Do not give up! Do what it takes you to be the best version of you even if it means to do it alone. Eventually the efforts will receive its recognition….remember Karma is an undisputable tool! Be good always because it comes back in the most unexpected form. There is no parallel to hard work and kindness.

Put up the best show, live your life and be your own hero! There may be many hero stories, adding yours will definitely increase the count. So be the change!

There is no Planet B even if you have Plan B

Mother earth is a common personification of nature that focuses on the life giving and nurturing aspects of nature by embodying it, in the form of the mother. Like a mother, she has given everything to us to live long and healthy life. A judicial use of natures’ gift is our prime responsibility. Everything humans have needed to survive, and thrive, is provided by the natural world around us: food, water, medicine, materials for shelter, and even natural cycles such as climate and nutrients.

Sunlight, fresh air, clean water, green surroundings, trees, fertile land and nutritious food is the basic need of each one of us. Survival is sustainable when the above exists. So we need to plan to use them efficiently else the coming generation may get deprived of these valuable life strengthening resources.

There is no Planet B in our galaxy that supports life so even if you have Plan B, execution is not an option. High time we become mindful of our actions.

It is a vicious cycle of nature where one time input of land and water with supporting atmosphere has been given with open hands. How we use them decides what comes back to us.

Our actions decide the living conditions around us. Lets act responsibly.

  • Reduce, reuse, and recycle. Cut down on what you throw away to avoid polluting the atmosphere.
  • Volunteer for cleanups in your community and around.
  • Educate and spread awareness on optimum utilization of available resources.
  • Conserve water for future generations, it is a finite element!
  • Plant more and more trees.
  • Use biodegradable items.
  • Car pool/share resources to reach the same destination.
  • Respect nature and natural water bodies. Do not litter them in the name of religion.
  • Love your surroundings. Nurture nature in the most natural way. Believe me it will come back in wonderful ways.

Overthinking – Are you?

The sharpest minds often ruin their lives by overthinking the next step, while the dull win the race with eyes closed. A quiet mind is able to hear intuition over fear.

Overthinking is essentially thinking too much- exactly what the word means!!

Before you react, think. Before you criticize, wait. Before you pray, forgive. Before you quit, try! You will never be free until you free yourself from the prison of your own false thoughts. Before you talk, listen. Stop worrying about what can go wrong, and get excited about what can go right. Overthinking – the art of creating problems that were not even there. There is nothing in this world that can trouble you as much as your own thoughts.

Most misunderstandings in the world could be avoided if people would simply take the time to ask, “What else could this mean rather than overthinking?

We are dying from overthinking. We are slowly killing ourselves by thinking about everything. The more you overthink the less you will understand. To think too much is a disease.

Worrying is like sitting in a rocking chair. It gives you something to do but it does not get you anywhere. Stop overthinking. You cannot control everything, just let it be. Overthinking is the biggest cause of unhappiness. Do not ruin a new day by thinking about yesterday. Let it go.

Let us connect with our soul everyday:

  1. GoNatural: Overthinking arises when you are disconnected – disconnected from the body, mind, soul, society and the nature but evaporates when you feel connected with your body, mind, breath and the soul.
  2. Talk to yourself in positive affirmations. Overthinking arises when you unconsciously provoke negative emotions and thoughts and avoid positive emotions and thoughts
  3. Meditate – Meditation is not a task to perform but allowing the thinking engine to take rest. In the restfulness of the thinking, engine eternity arises.

A Goal without a Plan is just a Wish

It is so true when we find ourselves wanting everything; it is because we are dangerously close to wanting nothing. Rather it is good to have an end to the journey because it is the journey that matters, in the end. All who have accomplished great things have had a great aim, have fixed their gaze on a goal which was high, one which sometimes seemed impossible.

You have to set goals that are almost out of reach. If you set a goal that is attainable without much work or thought, you are stuck with something below your true talent and potential. If you want to be happy, set a goal that commands your thoughts, liberates your energy and inspires your hopes. One way to keep momentum going is to have constantly greater goals because a goal properly set is halfway reached.

The trouble with not having a goal is that you can spend your life running up and down the field and never score.

It must be borne in mind that the tragedy of life doesn’t lie in not reaching your goal. The tragedy lies in having no goals to reach. You can do anything if you set goals. You just have to push yourself.

All successful people have a goal. No one can get anywhere unless he knows where he wants to go and what he wants to be or do.By recording your dreams and goals on paper, you set in motion the process of becoming the person you most want to be. Put your future in good hands—your own.

The Greatest Wealth is Health

Health is Physical, Mental and Social Well-being and not only the absence of disease. Before prolonging the discussion on phrase health is wealth, I would like to shed light on the phrase wealth also. If we are not healthy (do not feel in the state of physical, mental and social well-being), wealth means nothing to us. Wealth is a component of a healthy life.

It is extremely important to be healthy to lead a good life. Good life is experiencing pleasure, avoiding negative experience, seeking self-development, or contributing to others and developing their personal strengths.

Let us attain some simple and basic healthy tips:

  • Eat a variety of foods. Don’t skip breakfast.
  • Enjoy 5 fruits and vegetables daily.
  • Drink plenty of fluids, at least 7 glasses of water.
  • 9000 steps a day
  • 8 hours of sleep
  • 6 minutes of mediation
  • 4 rest breaks of 10 minutes
  • 3 meals and snacks a day
  • 2 hours without a phone before sleep
  • 1 physical activity like cycling, swimming etc

Health is a state of complete harmony of the body, mind and spirit. When one is free from physical disabilities and mental distractions, the gates of the soul open. The human body has been designed to resist an infinite number of changes and attacks brought about by its environment. The secret of good health lies in successful adjustment to changing stresses on the body.

  • If you have health, you probably will be happy, and if you have health and happiness, you have the wealth you need, even if it is not all you want.
  • A good laugh and a long sleep are the best cures in the doctor’s book.
  • To keep the body in good health is a duty, otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear.
  • Health and intellect are the two blessings of life.
  • To insure good health: eat lightly, breathe deeply, live moderately, cultivate cheerfulness, and maintain an interest in life.
  • The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past, not to worry about the future, or not to anticipate troubles, but to live the present moment wisely and earnestly.

  • Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live.
  • People who laugh actually live longer than those who don’t laugh. Few persons realize that health actually varies according to the amount of laughter.
  • The groundwork for all happiness is good health.

Mediation- Key to Soulful Living

Meditation is a practice of using a technique, such as focusing the mind on a particular object, thought or activity, to achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm state. Meditation has been practiced since antiquity in numerous religious traditions and beliefs.

Let us follow these for meditating daily.

  1. Take time off daily for mediating even if it is only for 5 minutes.
  2. Grab something to sit on to be comfortable.
  3. A soothing timer
  4. Keep your back straight. Your eyes can be either closed or open. Cross your legs and keep your hands however, you want. Find a pose and posture that is both comfortable and keeps you upright.
  5. Get comfortable. Start your timer. Do not analyze your breath; just bring your attention and focus to your breath, without thinking or analyzing it.
  6. Bring your attention back to your mind when it wanders.
  7. Meditating for 10 minutes, a day is infinitely better than meditating for 70 minutes once a week. So keep to a routine.
  8. Begin small, starting with five minutes, and increase only when you are comfortable.
  9. Meditate in a quiet place. Be easy on yourself. If you cannot concentrate, try counting.
  10. Breathe slowly and deeply.
  11. When you are ready to end your meditation, open your eyes and stand up slowly.

Practice makes it Perfect. The more you practice the better is gets and results become rewarding.

Eat well-balanced meals, get enough sleep, exercise daily to help you feel good and maintain your health. Invest in yourself by mediating to gift yourself the best in life. Take time to retrospect for each moment you spend. Review it and give your best shot. Life is lived only once, live it to the fullest. Make the best out of it and keep rocking.

A healthy life is the foundation of successful life.

True meaning of life is attained only if you live inside a body with healthy mind and soul.

Life is a series of experiences lived

Life is all about the different experiences one undergoes during the lifetime. It usually is a series of events that occur in one’s life sometimes creating memories or learning from them.

Life is a teacher who tests first and then teaches lessons.

Life moves on!! Come what may. It does not halt nor wait for anyone ever. It is a unique creation of God that has been designed to move on in all circumstances. Time is a powerful tool at its disposal. Life and time has a lot of do with each other and go hand in hand always.

Life is the most effective teacher in this world. Some of the hardest lessons are learnt only by living them through, no school or tutor teaches them.

  1. Make yourself necessary and you will always be needed. If you want to feel successful, learn to create, innovate or design something other people can use and need.
  2. Your thoughts are like boomerangs. What you pass along to others is what will come back to you.
  3. You are more defined by what comes out of your mouth than what goes in it. The way you speak and the things you say have power. Speech gives us the power to create or destroy.
  4. The journey of your success will always begin with the small step of taking a chance. In business, in relationships, and in life, it all begins with a small step grounded in a desire to be better and do better.
  5. Your education is never complete. Determine to live fully and continually learn. Prepare for what life has to teach by being open to the lessons in everything you do and experience.
  6. Don’t allow the voice of your fears to be louder than the other voices in your head. Make sure the voice of reason, the voice of belief, the voice of confidence are all strong enough to drown it out.
  7. A good reputation is more valuable than money. Your reputation is built on the foundation of your character; it entails the words you speak and the actions you take. Take care of your character above all other things and your reputation will take care of itself.

  8. You never really lose until you stop trying. The words I can’t never accomplish anything. I’ll try, on the other hand, can perform wonders. Until you try you don’t know what you can do.
  9. You get more by giving more. Success doesn’t result from how much you get but from how much you give. If you want an abundant life, give as much as you can.
  10. Rule your mind or it will rule you. When you rule your mind by controlling negativity and doubt, you rule your world. The choice is yours to make every day.

Great heroes are truly humble. Most of us underrate the importance of humility. It’s an important skill because it keeps you teachable, regardless of how much you already know.

  1. Defeat isn’t bitter if you’re smart enough not to swallow it. At one time or another we will all experience failure. In fact, the more we are willing to risk, the more we will fail. The trick is to think of failure not as the end but as part of the process.
  2. Your thoughts are powerful, make them positive. To have a life that’s more abundant and more successful, you must think in the limitless terms of abundance and success. Thinking is among the greatest powers we possess, and it’s our choice to use it negatively or positively.
  3. Forgiveness benefits two people–the giver and receiver. The bravest and the smartest thing you can do in a bad situation is to forgive and move on. Don’t allow grudges and grievances to add to the weight you carry on the road to your own success.
  4. The word impossible contains its opposite: “I’m possible.” What impossible may be a matter of a limited point of view. Allow no limiting beliefs to restrict your outlook on life.
  5. Preparation is a stepping stone to success. As the old saying goes, failing to prepare means preparing to fail. Success can be defined as being totally prepared.
  6. You are constantly creating your own reality. Your reality is built out of your thoughts, so remember how much power you have. What you think you become, what you feel you attract, what you imagine you create.
  7. You are in control of your own heaven or hell. You’re the master of your own destiny. You may not always be able to control your circumstances and environment, but how you respond is always within your control.
  8. Envy consumes itself. And if you give it a foothold in your life, it will take you with it.
  9. You can become bitter or better as a result of your circumstances. Your attitude is always up to you. No matter the circumstance, remind yourself that you have a choice. It’s up to you to get the results you want.
  10. Those who seldom make mistakes seldom stumble upon new innovation. Mistakes are proof that you’re trying, creating, exploring and discovering. Every success story, every fulfilled life needs mistakes. We may think of mistakes as meaning you’ve done something wrong, but in truth they mean you’re doing something right.
  11. It’s in losing yourself that you find yourself. The greatest challenge in life is discovering who you are, and the second greatest is being happy with what you find.
  12. When you’re facing the right direction, all you need to do is keep walking. If you’re lucky enough to know what you want, you can apply your passion and always love what you do. If you’re still working to discover what you want, keep exploring. Either way, stay persistent and determined.
  13. Be grateful every day, because that’s the source of true power. The most important power lies in a grateful heart. Practice turning your thoughts toward appreciation and thanksgiving, because that is where you will find your gifts, strength and power.

Diwali – A Festival of Lights,Prosperity and love

Diwali is the five-day festival of lights, celebrated by millions across the world. The festival, which coincides with the Hindu New Year, celebrates new beginnings and the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness .The day Lord Rama, Sita, Lakshmana and Hanuman reached Ayodhya after a period in exile and Lord Rama’s army of good defeated demon king Ravana’s army of evil.

Different days of Diwali has its significance beyond the celebration as a festival:

Day 1- Dhanteras (Day of fortune)- dhan meaning “wealth” and teras meaning “13th”). This celebration of wealth and prosperity occurs two days before the festival of lights.

Day 2-Naraka Chaturdasi (Day of knowledge)- marks the vanquishing of the demon Naraka by Lord Krishna and his wife Satyabhama.

Day 3-Diwali (Day of light) – Amavasya marks the worship of Lakshmi when she is in her most benevolent mood, fulfilling the wishes of her devotees. Amavasya also tells the story of Lord Vishnu, who, in his dwarf incarnation, vanquished the tyrant Bali and banished him to hell. Bali is allowed to return to earth once a year to light millions of lamps and dispel darkness and ignorance while spreading the radiance of love and wisdom. It is on the day of Deepawali, Kartika Shudda Padyami, that Bali steps out of hell and rules the earth according to the boon given by Lord Vishnu.

Day 4-Annakut (New Year)- Since all the evil ends making the atmosphere pure so it marks the beginning of new things. Businesses change their books of accounts after worshipping them and get prepared for a new beginning.

Day 5-Bhai Dooj (Day of love between siblings)- Yama Dvitiya (also called Bhai Dooj), and on this day sisters invite their brothers to their homes.

The Spiritual Significance of Diwali. Beyond the lights and fun, Diwali is a time to reflect on life and make changes for the upcoming year.

  1. Give and forgive. It is common practice that people forget and forgive the wrongs done by others during Diwali spreading the message of peace, freedom, festivity, and friendliness everywhere.
  2. Rise and shine. Waking up during the Brahmamuhurta (at 4 a.m., or 1 1/2 hours before sunrise) is a great blessing from the standpoint of health, ethical discipline, efficiency in work, and spiritual advancement.
  3. Unite and unify. Diwali is a unifying event, and it can soften even the hardest of hearts. It is a time when people mingle about in joy and embrace one another. It is done by touching the feet of our elders and seeking blessing from them for ones progress and well-being. The vibrations produced by the greetings of love fill the atmosphere making it very powerful.
  4. Prosper and progress. On this day, Hindu merchants in North India open their new account books and pray for success and prosperity during the coming year. People buy new clothes for the family. Employers, too, purchase new clothes for their employees. Homes are cleaned and decorated by day and illuminated by night with earthen oil lamps.
  5. Truth always triumphs: This festival instills charity in the hearts of people, who perform good deeds. This includes Govardhan Puja, a celebration by Vaishnavites on the fourth day of Diwali. On this day, they feed the poor on an incredible scale.
  6. Illuminate your inner self: The lights of Diwali also signify a time of inner illumination. Hindus believe that the light of lights is the one that steadily shines in the chamber of the heart.

When the heart has considerably hardened, only a continuous celebration of Deepavali can rekindle the urgent need of turning away from the ruinous path of hatred. Sitting quietly and fixing the mind on this supreme light illuminates the soul. It is an opportunity to cultivate and enjoy eternal bliss.
